Mission
For us, being in mission is about living out Jesus' command to love God and love our neighbor. We seek to be the hands and feet of Christ in the community of Cobleskill and beyond. Aside from our weekly service opportunities of our thrift store and food pantry, we have a range of mission projects and trips offered at various times throughout the year. Check out some of our upcoming and past projects and trips below.
Operation: Home Repair
The local United Methodist churches are embarking on a mission this year to repair homes in the area. We’re looking for volunteers to help in local projects that remedy building deterioration, heat loss, water damage, and unsafe living conditions for our neighbors. Work will be conducted during the week of July 24-29 by teams of trained volunteers with experienced leaders.
Summer Lunch Volunteer Opportunity
Each summer our church hosts a free summer lunch program Monday - Friday from 12-1pm. We look for volunteers to help serve lunches on one of these days from 11:30am-1:15pm. Stay tuned for more information about this in June of each year.
Flood Bucket Ministry
Due to the increase in major storms during the past several years, our church has made a regular effort to fill cleaning buckets for the United Methodist Committee on Relief. These buckets provide essential cleaning items for the days and weeks after a flooding disaster hits. To make our bucket-filling fun, we love to work with our Mosaic sisters and brothers and throw "Bucket-Building Parties."
Partnership with Red Bird
For several years now, our church has partnered with Red Bird Mission to show God's love to people in need in the mountains of Kentucky. This has included packing shoeboxes for children at Christmas and hosting a craft fair at our church to showcase the work of artisans from around Red Bird.
For the past two years, our church has also participated in the Red Bird Mission Trip offered through the Mosaic, our cooperative parish. This trip has provided an incredible opportunity to visit a different part of the country, meet new people, and serve God by assisting with much needed home and building repairs in an impoverished area. Take a look at our past trips here.
Halloween Hollow Event
Halloween offers our church a unique opportunity to be with our neighborhood as hundreds of children and their families walk past our church. We love this opportunity to extend hospitality by offering a family friendly outdoor experience featuring a candy chute from our third floor balcony, a jack o lantern display and a Trunk or Treat.
